Cavtat is situated on two peninsulas that are creating a bay, natural marina for the yachts. Town is a popular destination for yachtsmen and those seeking a place to relax. The promenade in the shade of palms, pine trees together with bougainvilleas, tamarisks, extends along the seafront offering the view on the crystal clear sea. Numerous bars and restaurants line the waterfront offering local specialities.
The special charm of this city are the buildings from the period of Dubrovnik Republic. The town is a home to Vaho Bukovac, father of modern art in Croatia, today his house is a museum. On the top of the peninsula is a mausoleum of family Račić, a beautiful piece of art done by famous sculpture Ivan Meštrović. The Rector’s palace offers a Baltazar Bogišić collection with more than 35.000 items. The city with its surroundings keeps traces of thousand years’ long history.
